Frequently Asked Questions

How are you different from comparison sites?

Our free version works much like comparison websites where we switch to deals that pays a commission although these deals will generally not be the cheapest. On our paid plans we never take supplier commission so we don't have any incentive to switch to deals that are not the cheapest for you. Our paid plan saves customers on average £109 more than commission deals and allows us to remain impartial and work for you, not suppliers. Have a look at our competitor page for more information.

I have an exit fee. Can I join?

Yes, exit fees are always included when we quote your savings. You can also set a minimum savings limit to choose how much you want to save before switching. We'll only switch you if the savings are greater than the exit fees and custom switch settings allow you to choose when to switch or to remain with your current supplier until exit fees are no longer payable. With Switchd, you have total control of who we switch to and when.

Can I sign-up more than one property?

Yes. Our customer dashboard allows you to you register all your properties in one place and with one email address – all easily accessible from a drop-down menu. Just log-in once and you'll have access to the supplier, tariff and bills for all your properties. You can even submit meter readings for all your properties via the Switchd dashboard or our app.

I have a Smart Meter. Can I join?

Yes you can. Some smart meters lose their smart functionality when you switch provider but meter readings can easily be added via the Switchd dashboard. We expect smart meters to be rolled out across all suppliers by late 2018 and we'll send you a monthly meter reading reminder to help keep your bills accurate and the suppliers honest.

When will a final bill be issued?

We'll always remind you to send us opening meter readings so that the new supplier starts your account and bills you based on accurate usage. The old supplier should also close your account with these same readings. The final bill is dependent on how long your former supplier takes to agree on the final meter readings, but it's generally issued around 21 - 30 days after the switch completes.

Will my credit balance be refunded?

Yes. If you have a credit balance on your account, your old supplier will refund your credit to your bank account after the switch completes and the final bill is issued. If you have a debit balance, we'd suggest you clear it as soon as possible to avoid missed savings. The supplier may also object to your switch until the debit balance is settled.

Large vs small suppliers

Switching to smaller suppliers is often a cheaper option, but requires a lot more hassle for Team Switchd. That’s why comparison websites don’t offer them. We compare every supplier in the market and pick a tariff only based on whether it's cheapest for you. And our systems secretly love admin.

How much does it cost?

Our paid plans start from £1.99 a month. We also have a Free version where we switch to deals that pay a commission although these deals will not be the cheapest. The paid version does not rely on supplier commission and the fee ensures that we remain impartial and you always remain on the cheapest deal. No supplier commissions on the paid plan means our only incentive is to find you the cheapest deal. Besides, you'll only pay if we can save you more than £50, so you're guaranteed to save.
